The Emperor's New Accessories?

According to the NY Post, cashmere bangles (as well as other knit jewelry) are going to be huge this fall. Normally $132 but now on sale for $39.60, it's a purchase "you won't regret."

How do we feel about this?

Please feel free to expand upon your answers in the comments.

(Mucho thanks to Decorno for alerting me to this)

YES! I told Decorno that this looked like a sweatband.

A sweatband would be 1000% cooler -- a la Royal Tennenbaums.

Useless , expensive landfill.

SGM will not be buying any of these. I will be buying a red sock and cutting it off and rolling it down a little to save the $39.60 and giving it to her for a anniversary gift.

Earlier on in my career I used to import fashion accessories from China for Anthro and others. Any nincompoop willing to pay $36.00 let alone $132.00 has got to get their head examined! The landed cost from China is probably in the $4-6 range and if the cashmere yarn is a blend then it could be even less!
I gotta agree with Mamacita here: a sweatband would be way cooler.

Frank,

I think you could get a closer approximation to the real thing if you glued on some cat fur.

I guarantee they will appear as part of a "Lucky cutest outfit of the day" within the next 2 weeks.

Truth be told, it looks like a damn scrunchie to me.

I'm not so into this yet, but you never know, I might go crazy over these!

BTW, would you like to do a link exchange with me?

Oh I am laughing with all of you. I had originally written a much nastier post, but then the bangle started to grow on me a little bit. It started to look OKAY. So I toned it down, way down.

Yes, we will see this on a Lucky staffer soon (good one design junkie!) and Mamacita, I am so pissed that I didn't make the Royal Tennenbaum connection myself Hilarious!

Ooooh, its "starting to grow on me" - how many of those martini's have you had????
LOL

You know I could dig through my collection of saved clothing circa 1992 (thanks to my mom), and pull out a whole pile of scrunchies. It would save everyone tons of money. $132! For real?

Growing on you?! A picture is going to surface in a few months of you wearing one, isn't it???? Probably with leggings.

Regardless of loving or hating it, I had to vote PIMMAL, it is my favorite new expression. I do hate it, though.

Umb my first thought on seeing this was, WTF is that a mini drink cozy on her arm? No? Ok how bout some new weird coaster for your drink. I don't know know why but thats what came to mind first. And then I imagined some of my sweet old lady friends wearing these to church on Sunday with their giant wooden bead necklaces and I laughed out loud.
