No podcast tonight but

we'll be back soon after some revamping, re-tooling, and high-powered salary negotiations.

Do you know what you should do tonight instead? Watch The Pick Up Artist 2 on VH1, starring... Mystery:

Wait! Hear me out! I know he looks like the the ultimate douchebag--a poor man's Tommy Lee, if you will--but this guy is teaching social skills to people who have none. And I mean NONE. I'm telling you, he's Annie Sullivan! It's a fascinating show. Trust me on this, and please report back if you watch, or if you watched last season. I need to talk about this show!

Hold out for at least $6 mil., SGM. You're the STAR baby.

I think I'll have to wait until you give this the SGM recap treatment before I commit to an episode;)

Oh SGM!!! You converted me on the Rachel Zoe Project, but on this one, you should have just stopped at "the ultimate douchebag"!!! I mean he calls himself Mystery for god's sake!

I watched most of the first season and SGM is right. You've got to see what he does for the poor souls under his tutelage. It's a fascinating study of human behavior.

Trust, Bee and Southern Gent.

Swear to God, I hated Mystery on sight but after five minutes of being forced to watch this show, I was hooked. Think of this show as more of a healing for those who are just barely on the autism spectrum.

no, no, NO! douchebag central. i tried to watch last season and cringed until i nearly broke my jaw. he does nothing but teach poor innocent man-boys how to become full-fledged douchebags.

bleh!

"Teaching for those barely on the autism spectrum"

You, ma'am have a spectacular way with words. I agree with you in that sense. the dudes on the show certainly are "special, god only knows where they find them.

Can't say I'm with you on this one. That show is a study in how girls always go for the @-holes. He turns adorably sweet, dorky guys into weird, scummy cheeseball knock-offs. It gives me the creeps. However...I look forward to reading what you have to say about it!

Ok SGM - I'll give it a try since I'm already going to be tuned in to VH1 anyway (Rock of Love Season 3, you know), but I need to ask you about his name. Seriously - it's like when Britney did her comeback on MTV Music Awards and came out to "It's Britney, Bitch"...and then trotted around like somebody spiked her vodka tonic with vicodin and she forgot to get dressed. You REALLY gotta bring it for an intro like that or a name like 'Mystery'...I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

SGM,
Like most reality programs, Mystery is one I just can't say no to. A few problems, tho: 1) His name. He's not a carny. 2) Stick some braces on his teeth & a few pimples, & he's a dead ringer for my 14 year old son. 3) A few of his lame "techniques" are straight out of an 80's teen handbook from Fast Times at Ridgemont High or Breakfast Club.
On a positive note: Mystery does offer some excellent personal grooming/styling advice, & seems to really have an understanding & compassion for painfully socially inept. It's like one of those before & after, feel good weight loss stories! SH loves it!!

woo hoo!!! i LOVED this show last season. it really is fascinating, but mostly from a woman's perspective watching a "professional" pickup artist. the hat is deceiving. he's very charming with or without the hat.

I just can't imagine this guy getting ANY ass! Who is sleeping with this guy?

I love and hate this show. "Mystery" teaches these poor guys really annoying pick up lines but have you noticed the difference between this show and all the other competition reality shows? These guys love each other and are sad when each one is eliminated! Have you ever seen such a thing? It's quite amazing to see.
